SLOANE KALI FAYE, PHD
Writer. Sociologist. Facilitator.
Hi, I’m Sloane.
I help organizations and advocates deepen their commitment to social justice with anti-racism education.
I offer socially relevant content and programming that is
rigorous and relatable.
MY BOOK
Centering the term “black dehumanization” changes the conversation from a discussion about white social and emotional learning, to an outcome-oriented call to action for black liberation. To continue using the term “end white supremacy” rather than “end black dehumanization” is to perpetuate white supremacy.
- From How We Whitewash White Supremacy and How to Stop
The need for greater integrity between organizational anti-racist statements and actions inspired my first book: How We Whitewash White Supremacy & How to Stop.
In this short book, I explain why using the term “white supremacy” instead of “black dehumanization,” does more harm than social good.
I conclude with one small change organizations can make to amplify their impact as anti-racists.
MY PROGRAMS
I created the “… and CHILL” series for people who want what I want right now: a relaxed environment for eye-opening and energizing conversations about society.
No posturing. No shaming. Just shared space to expand and chill.
theory + CHILL
Like a machine, “the system” (of imperialist, white supremacist, capitalist, patriarchy) functions in very predictable ways. Explaining the gears, levers, and operators that keep the system operating isn’t as complicated as it seems.
theory + CHILL is a free facilitated conversation with a thinker that has immersed themselves in a specific idea about how society works. Each session is designed to explore the guest’s ideas about systemic change in simple terms using timely, real-world examples.
Participants are invited to bring their questions, drink of choice, and friends for an intimate and engaging conversation.
justice + CHILL
Justice, equity, diversity, and belonging work is inherently collaborative and shifting. Still, many people find themselves learning about anti-racism alone, or always with the same people.
justice + CHILL is a curated reading and support group designed to deepen participants’ understanding of leading edge anti-racism discussions, and build community with other anti-racist professionals, advocates, and organizational leaders.
Attendees also build community with other like-minded individuals with free access to the justice + CHILL Facebook group. We keep the conversation going there in between meetings.
ENRICHED PROGRAMMING
The TREK is an 8-week program that takes a curated group of advocates on a deep racial justice learning journey. Participants will confront the history and systems that benefit privileged people at the expense of morality. Together they will create action plans to implement racial justice principles in their daily lives and organizations.
